mix of gas & oil shock absorbers?
« on: January 31, 2010, 10:25:55 AM »
I installed on my Suzuki grand vitara 3dr a set of KYB gas shock absorbers (EXCEL-G) at the rear.
a few weeks later, I decided to replace the front shocks as well, but couldn't find EXCEL-G, only oil type (PREMIUM).
anyone tried this setup? (oil at front & gas at rear).

as long as you have the same shocks on each end it will be fine

It will be fine but I would search around for some gas struts, the oil struts tend to be one-way damped only and don't give as good a ride as the two-way damped gas shocks.

what do you think of Monroe shocks?
I found Monroe Adventure & Sensa-track that will fit my car. are they any good?
I'm only intrested is restoring the original ride-not performance.
thanks

I just put the Monroe-matic shocks on my Tracker.  The ride is stiffer than I would like.  I think the Sensa-Traks would have been better.

Ya Sensa-Traks have variable (automatically) valving and ride better
