Hey Everyone.  

After seeing three different spots around winnipeg,  i've settled in on my tracker build.  None of the places really require much lift, and the bigger tires help with that anyway.   My next step is to install lockers.  

Could someone explain what the trackers have/ need in terms of lockers?   i thought the rear already was locked when in 4x4...

original track/kick do not have any locker but if you want cheap you weld the rear diff or put a spool and the front can use a lockright type locker.


better is the ARB air locker but much more expensive.

Don't weld the rear diff if you live where it snows, this can make driving
very dangerous causing you to slid off the road

Lockers are not to much, about $250 in the US, check the advertising directory

Sweet Wild, i'll look into it.    and that is the main thing,  here in winnipeg, we are most of the time stuck in ice and deep snow at -50 weather.    So, sliding around it not a priority.  But being able to get unstuck IS.  Deep snow is going to be the tracker's biggest enemy (seeing as its my winter car)   I'll look into a good rear locker.

Keep an eye on craigsllist and ZW classifieds where there just was an ARB for the rear for $500 (which I would have bought, if I wasn't sleeping).  Lockers set up right are OK for the rear, but an ARB up front is just totally awesome, and they work better than stock even unlocked.
Unless you know what you are doing, at least take the differential to a shop, and have them set it up for you.  If not set up right, they do not work right, you won't be happy, they wear the gears wrong, it starts to whine, you won't be happy, and they do not work right.  Or, you could be lucky (or talented).

a lockrite literally just slips right in, ANYONE can install it. In 2wd it will be sideways in the ice, ever watch Drifting? But in 4wd it will be impressive. Bang for the buck you cant beat the lockrite/aussie/detroit ez
