OK

# 1   disconnect the battery
# 2   get two screw drivers a #2 and #3 Phillips
# 3   remove the door stop strap
# 4   shut the door
# 5   remove the four screws the hold the door to the body
# 6   carefully open the door and carry it off
# 7   make or buy mirror mounts
# 8   reconnect the battery
# 9   take for a drive

I've done a few and after fighting with those phillips screws I've all together given up on taking them out in one piece.

Get your welder and buy some nuts that will cover the phillips door screw. I grind the paint off the phillip heads and weld on the nuts. Let them cool and put a wrench on them and yank them off. Take off the door straps first other wise you'll be trying to hold it all together.

Once you got the doors off then it's time to cut the hinge to make it removable. You've got to cut the top half of the female part of the hinge. This is the part that is going to be bolted to the body. You take out the top part of the C.

Once you cut the top of the hinge you can use a punch and take out the cut part. This will give you the finished hinge on the door. Now you rebolt the body part on the samurai and trim the pin down to be able to get the door on without having to unbolt anything. TRim a little at a time and keep trying to put the door on. I cut it about 1/2 way and it always seems to work....better to cut twice then to cut too short. I've done many and I've never lost a door.

I'll try to take some pics tomorow to show how it's done. For the mirrors I just welded a nut onto the hinge and made a bracket that could bolt onto the nut. I'll take some pics of this too.

I hope that this helps!

I'll try the air thing when I have to do the next one. I've got one to do in the yard but it's already got hex bolts.

The only isue i have is that i have to find a spot for the mirrors were there out of the way and can still see. send me some mirror pics please.

I'd like to see some pics, too!  ...or maybe a link to a thread.

Unfortunately, the one at Ack's FAQ no longer works properly

I built a bracket that bolts to the window hinge for the driver's side but the door slams into it causing it to bend.  I need a better solution...

After destroying my stock mirrors on random trees that jumped out at me I switched over to motorcycle mirrors.  Then just made a bracket that went on the doors and one on my roll cage.  Works great, keeps the mirrors in the stock location and all I need is a 14mm wrench to swap them out.

After the TTCW I am going to go back and re-paint the brackets black so they match the rock sliders and stand out a bit more against the red.

I've got a simple mirror solution. I did it with the LJ and it will work on the samurai too.

Weld a nut unto the top hinge part...the one that is on the fender. I used a coupling but that I trimmed down a little, a regular nut was too thin and a full coupling nut was too long.  I just made a simple L bracket and at one end there is a hole to bolt it to the welded hinge nut. At the other end I just bolted a 6" round mirror.

I can put it on and take it off with my bare hands. Just spin the bracket and it looses or tightens the bolt.

I'll try to take some pics but this to me was the simple solution. I tried to make it permanent on higher but I could never get a clear view of the mirror, had to bend over to look. It makes the mirror low but I find it works real good. Since you got the door off that leaves  you with a great open side view of anything right to your side. You just need to see behind you. I didn't put one on the passenger side because I didn't think it was worth the effort.

well i bought myself a present yesterday. got me a dremel. i worked on the passenger door after school today. it was a bare but i got it done. i still need to clean it up a bit but i need more dremel tools. driver side is going to be easier and will probably look better tooo considering i know what im doing now. in thinking of just welding a tab on the hinge and seeing what pep boys has for mirrors. thanks for the ideas and help guys. ill put some progress pictures up lateer
