aftermarket clutch
« on: August 22, 2009, 07:56:21 PM »
So I am considering buying a new clutch kit. I drive 75% on road 25% off road (vary hard on rig off road). My question is what is the dirreence in the diffrent stages of clutches and what is a dual friction clutch.

Witch is beter and why or should i just stick with OE.

what is diffrence between high performance clutchs and OE. Like how the work?

The higher performance clutches usually have stiffer springs or larger contact patches.  This means that when you release the clutch it grabs harder then the stock OEM style.   As for if you need one the question is how much you smoke your clutch off-road and how quickly you went through it.  The right one for your style of driving

But they all bolt onto your engine the same way.

In my SJ I actually run a stock clutch, but with my gearing as low as it is I have never had a problem with it.  In my Tracker I want to go with a slightly stiffer clutch when I put a new one in, as I have smoked it on the sand dunes and climbing up in the snow.

or the clutches have Kevlar on one side and a copper looking material on the other.

Yeah what made my dad so pissed, couple years ago, they ran fiber down the road, near his house, but no one would bring it THAT much further so he could get on someones service.  He was paying crooked earthlink like 40 bucks a month, then a 40-50 phone line, through verizon, who ran the fiber.  I dunno know about him, he got suckered into dsl, its fast for him, but its still slow as a dog, and he STILL has to pay the rediculous phone rates, "free long distance" sure until you add up the 20 dollars worth of fees that have no purpose.  I can honestly say, I am one of the rare people who have NEVER had a problem with comcast.  Hell I even get like 50 basic tv channels for free, and the economy internet still gives me impressive rates, Ive only checked it a couple times, but both times it was faster than the economy is supposed to be, been so long I dont even remember.
