Project Samurai... My first ever off road is a Samurai.
« on: June 28, 2009, 03:49:08 PM »
I just bought this 1986 LWB.  Apparently the only one in the Dominican Republic, this model was not offered by dealerships here, someone imported it from Texas a few years ago.  So, there is little or not rust in it.

I just purchases a 1992 Sidekick engine, 5sp 4 x 4.  The swap will begin next week.

Currently doing some designing of bumper and rock sliders based on ideas seen here and the internet.  Plans to do a 5" lift, 35 x 12.5 x 15 and some other mods.  Will keep updated, just wanted to share the first pictures....

I've only seen that hardtop design over-seas.  Nice find.  :)

that is a real nice top and a great find. They are rare in great shape. They are fun offroad because of the LWB.

There about 25 samurais on the off road club here and none is a LWB... I've had some of the guys ask if I would sell it....  I know that the person how imported this one from Texas to Dominican Republic went back to the states, I tried finding out if he originally purchased it on the US, cause I never saw one in the US in 20 years I lived there...

as far as I know they were never in the US. They only brought them to Canada and most US models probably came from the great white north. They might have brought them but not sure.

I saw one down here that was in mint shape and it went for alot of money.

The conclusion after some research is that the LWB came to Texas from Canada and them imported to Dominican Republic....
