WARN PREMIUM HUBS AND FUSES
« on: August 18, 2004, 11:25:59 PM »
IF ANY OF YOU WERE THINKING OF GETTING THESE THEN HOLD OFF TILL MORE IS KNOWN ABOUT THEM. I HAVE THEM FITTED TO TONKA-TOY AND I AM BLOWING DRIVESHAFTS STILL. ALSO JUST REPLACED THE INBOARD HALFSHAFT AS I RIPPED THE LAST 2" OFF THE END OF IT.

SEEMS AS THOUGH THE FUSES NEED TO BE A LITTLE WEAKER(DARE I SAY THIS) FOR THEM TO WORK PROPERLY.
I HAVE NOW REFITTED THE STANDARD COGS IN THEM AND BROUGHT THE HUBS BACK UP TO FULL STRENGTH SEEING AS THE FUSES DON'T BLOW.
THE IDEA IS GREAT ... MAYBE ITS BECAUSE WE DO LOADS OF MUD OVER IN THE UK AND NOT MUCH IN THE WAY OF ROCK CRAWLING..

I also use them and I broke the drivers side driveshaft ,at the end that the wheel is.The hub's fuse was in one piece though..... >:(
It happened when I was trying to go over a steep hill ,the left wheel begun spinning ,and when suddenly found traction on a tree's root , BANG !  ! !   >:(

dont know if they are going to make the fuses weaker, but they may better try and make stronger driveshafts for the sidekick instead.... ;D

This isn't a new topic, and we all thought
the Fuse was going to be too strong for
the axles, but drive shafts ???

I'm running high HP and 33" Swampers
and have yet to blow a DS, and I've only
blown one axle (22 splines) and that was
pushing it to go up a grarly steep ledge
in the desert, would have made it too if
the axle didn't pop

Just my 2 Cents worth

I think he means drivers side axle shaft ;). And yes this was brought up before. Those fuses are for heavier vehicles.
