From what I can tell by reading these two e-bay sales is that what the "box" does is modify the IAT or inlet air temperature signal to the ECM. So, I'd imagine they'd fool the computer into thinking the air was really cold outside so the ECM will richen up the mixture. Not sure how this would gain you power unless the factory settings were too lean to begin with (unlikely).

If you're interested though, I'd suggest more research....

Please let us know what you find out.

It's been a couple months since the original post.  Just so you know, you can go buy a $2 resistor at Radio Shack that does the same thing as those "performance chips".  We used to do it to our Hondas back in high school... it really doesn't add power.

Those so called performance boxes are junk. They make your ecu think the motor is cold hense putting it in to t rich Air fuel.

I put the wide band on my GV when i first got it. All oem ecus run there motor very rich up in the 11.0 area this is fine for a turbo car but bad for power on a Normaly Assperated motor.

I have a 2.7 with long tube headers exhaust, and intake and more mods and my Air Fuel ratios are at 13.0-13.1 witch is a bit lean but will make more power then at 11:0. The best A/F is 12.7-12.9 for a NA motor.

So if you want more power. best bang for the buck is a real cold air intake not some mickey mouse tube.
