Best fabricators in the world - 4.3 Sami

Now that its starting to look like something, check out my 4.3 Vortec Samurai that Spidertrax is working out for me:

Its a '93 Vortec, Dana 44s with Truetrac in both ends, NV3550 gearbox, air suspension, power steering, NP249 full time transfer case.

Why not skip the 4.3 and put the small block in? Not much longer or heavier, if you're already cuttin' and stretchin'

It's looking good.
          I looked around their site but didn't see much for Sidekicks. Hoping to find something for a SAS or parts for one.

Good point.  I'm not stretching the wheelbase though and the 4.3 is already a tight fit!

You should ask them about it.  I know it has been discussed, but I don't know what stage they're in with it.  If there is more interest, perhaps that will nudge them in the right direction.

I could be convinced to SAS my X-90.  I'm just waiting for somebody to come up with one.  If Spidertrax does one, it will be a good, well engineered job.

Yeah you're right, for some reason one of your pics made me think you had lengthend the frame.  With out a chop and add the 4.3 is about all you can fit.  How is it coming?

The first radiator was worthless, but the second one looks like a better fit.  We'll get it all in there!

Well, yeah.  It's as bad as it looks.  The Dana 44s from Dynatrac, all setup and ready to go are, like $5000.  The fabrication is well north of $10,000.  The engine, transmission, and transfer case are a few thousand.  The bracketry to mount the alt, A/C, and PS pump was $1000 by itself (including said accessories with the brackets).  So it's pushing $20K before paint and interior....

Its not going to be a show rig or garage queen either.  It will get driven.  Alot.  Off-road too for camping and such.  But, I will admit, I'll keep the serious rock bashing for my X-90.  The X-90 is the one with low ratio transfer case and ARBs front and rear, winch, rock rails, skid plates, etc.  Gotta swap in an Anvil or do a SAS...

Let's face it.  I can modify both the Samurai and X-90 for less than the cost of a new Chevy Suburban/Tahoe thing, or god-help-us, an H2.

That sounds kinda steep until you think about it this way: you're essentially getting a brand-spankin'-new Samurai with V8 and 3/4 ton axles... and that makes me drool...

I suspect it'll be a sweet rig when it's all said and done, and probably worth every penny ya spent on it, even if it is half Chevy ;) ;D

WOW! Thats really a peice of work bro! It look and probally runs bitchin.
You can take the Sammy off the trail, but you cant take the trail out of the Sammy.
