Up Idle Circuit
« on: March 06, 2009, 02:38:59 PM »
87 Tintop, stock (carburetor)

Problem: Engine won't increase in revs when I put an electrical load on it (a/c, lights, etc)

I replaced the three way valve switch and can see that the up idle rod moves. The problem is that the up idle rod moves as soon as I start the sammi. I think it should move only when there's a load. Ideas? Thanks.

I can never memories these things. I always have to refer to my Chilton manual for test procedures. If you get stuck, I'll try to look it up in my book and see what I can dig up.

Thanks. I have a Chiltons but it doesn't have much to say on this. Something like, if the accuator doesn't move, there is a problem with the accuator or the accuator circuit. Mine moves as soon as I start the engine. I looked at the wiring schematic (very small print!) and it looks like the ECU controls this activity directly. Anyhow, I'm grateful for any help.
