How to test what is drawing current ?
« on: February 19, 2009, 03:45:50 AM »
I have something slowly draining my battery down when my tracker is sitting . Is there a way to find out what what it is without unhooking everything ? I notice when I hook up the battery it sparks so I know something is drawing current . I was thinking maybe I could use an ohm meter on the fuse panel somehow to find out what circuit is drawing the juice. That would at least narrow it down some. Would the clock on the stock radio draw enough current to spark when hooking up the battery and run the battery down ?
Thanks,
Raz

Disconnect the battery positive termainal and then connect an ammeter between the cable and the battery. Then start pulling fuses to isolate the circuit with the worst current draw. The ECU and radio will draw current as well as any alarm thats fitted but the amount should be negligable.
