Replacing the Front Crank Seal

Well, after preventive maintenance on my Tracker of replacing the timing belt it now is leaking oil from the front end under the timing belt cover.  So I probably torqued something and now my front crank seal is leaking.

How hard it is to replace this?  Is this a 'pull the engine' sort of fix.

just means you have to do the timing belt project again.
plus add another step.

isn't that where you remove the belt sprocket and pick out the seal?

'89 kick w/little motor, still got pieces of jeff's pucks, stan's sticks into 4.24:1 tcase, 31x10.5x15's, rear lockrite, kick power steering, some radios(kj6esv), bmw seat, other changes just because. done on the cheap.

Maybe?  Haven't found that part in the FSM yet.  Work keeps getting in the way.  :P

It's very easy to do, I just did my crank and cam seal last week. You do not have to pull the engine. I removed the fan, fan shroud and rad and I had lots of room to do it. You can probably even leave the rad in place, but for the little extra time it takes to remove it, it's nice having the extra room to work.

So do you just pull the Crankshaft Timing Belt Gear and swap it out?

You got it, remove the crank pulley, remove the timing belt cover, take the belt off, remove crank gear for timing belt and then replace the seal. I suggest that you replace the cam seal at the same time it's done the same way, and the seals are cheep.

i get the work thing. always interferring.
i always expect to have to take it apart a few times before i'm done.
