I have a stock 1987 sami and I'm thinking of adding the Calmini exhaust kit (entire system... header, cat, muffler).  Outside of, do you guys recommend it?  I have a few questions...

1) Web site says it adds 15-18% hp, is this realistic?
2) I live in Dallas Tx, so I have to get it inspected every year, do I run a risk of failing inspection with this system? 
3) Web site says "header does require welding" - then says the full combo is "entirely bolt-on".  Anyone already put this on and know if the full system requires welding?

If you use the stock cat then it needs welding. If you use their cat its fully bolt on.

Well, I just installed the full system.  It defiantly sounds better but I don't know about power and MPG yet (just put it in today).  My throttle cable broke last weekend, so that also got changed today. 

If anybody has already installed the Calmini header, I have a question for you…. What did you do with the warm air hose?  With the old header there was a heat shield that the hose connected to, this new Calmini header dose not allow the shield to be reinstalled. 

If you remove this hose, will it screw up this 'old school' attempt at an environmentally friendly system???

I moved a clamp and routed the hose next to the header…. That should give it warm air but defiantly not as hot as before.

I have my clamini combo kit. it really made a different on MPG and added horsepower. my headers are straight pipe to 40 sires flowmaster. and love the sound of it. here in Hawaii. they do smog check.

The hose provides warm air to prevent carb icing, if it doesn't get cold where you are then you won't have a problem without it. Your bracket is probably sufficient otherwise.
