I've done so much searching, but to no avail.  Does anyone make a manual locking differential that is as simple as this?  In the old days, people got out of their cars, laid on their backs and flipped a switch on the dif to lock it in place.  Does anyone make these for the Suzuki Samurai anymore?

It would be like an ARB locker, but without the air system.  Just good ol' fashioned getting out and turning it on.  Any help would be nice, because I hate these damn auto and full time lockers!

For the rear you could use a KAM locker.  They are configured to be electric, but the Land Rover versions are usually cable driven.  So it should be a (relatively) simple matter of modifying it for your purposes.

I'm looking for a system that existed way before these automatic and electric or air selectable types. 

I'm also looking for cheaper.  KAM lockers are $1200, I'm in search for something around... $200-300.  When I say "switch" I mean get out and turn a knob with your hand to lock it.  I'm surprised such a thing is so hard to find!

I had a truck with a hydraulic system oncet...  but it was a givamint unit on a austrian-built army truck.

Well, the Kam system just pulls a pin in and out, so you could make a manual switch.  But like you said, they aren't cheap.

If you want something like that, I think your stuck with some Mog axles.  Maybe some of the older FJ's might have had a cable locker you could modify up.
