CALMINI struts question

Those of you running CALMINI struts in the front...did you just trim the OEM strut dust cover.  The CALMINI struts have a metal ring around the body that seems to crush the factory dust cover.  What's up with that??

No concerns of mud and dirt getting in there, or is it sealed pretty well?  Thanks.

Might consider slippling some aftermarket boots on them.  They're made of a pliable rubber and should slip over the lip IF the lip is no larger than 1/4 inch.   One of my struts was frozen on the strut mount, couldn't recover one of the the OEMs so I bought a pair of the corregate GP ones from either auto zone or O'Reilly's....   They cost about $16 and are secured with a zip tie on the bottom.   You run the roads alot.  Salt from the roads isn't a big deal where you live but you have alot of sand and salt in the air to boot.

i'm not worried about crap getting in there any more than with the stock covers, i found with the stock covers mud and crap could just stay inside the boot longer and go un-noticed, with all the oil leaking out of my struts i'm sure the dirt that gets in eventually leaks out with the oil...  oh well, struts suck.

Go get some rancho dust boots there dirt cheap all u do is get a 3/8" center bore washer and file it a bit and put it in the channel in the rancho boot then slide it on.

Dont run ur struts open.

And the rachchos have side lower air vents to allow air to escape and water.
