If you've already got the 1.6, and it runs okay, and you've also got the entire donor vehicle with wiring harness etc.......I'm not sure how this isn't a no-brainer.  I'm no expert on mating this engine to the rest of the Sammy drivetrain, but if you've got everything else, transfering the wiring harness over would be a relative snap.

You can fit the 1.6 8V and use the Sammy carb and exhaust setup. You just need to rig up an electric fuel pump.
What size tyres and what gearing are you running on the Sammy? Big tyres and stock gearing will make the speedo under read.

But i wanna get the motor out the way. the heart of the beast once we kno she can move those tires up to high way speed then we will go for the gearing

The 16v is a easy install if you get a kit like the one from Trail Tough. You can figure out the wiring for yourself for cheaper but, I would recommend the kit. I drove my sammy down to Eric's shop with the 16v on the trailer and drove it home with the 1.3l on the trailer 10 hours later. That also included a run to the parts store for a belt and lunch.

i thought i read somwhere about dropping a kick /track intank fuel pump into a sami tank, dont know , the only thing i have with ifs is a thrasher vette, but im sure someone on here has the answer, efi pumps push better than pull, and if you have the rig and this works, youre down to the wiring and trans adapter
good luck dude, alot of guys love that 16v
if you were right, dont you think i'd agree with you?

Brent has a universal inline pump with the kit. You can pick it up at NAPA for like 89.00. They work but are noisy as hell. I am planning on doing a in tank pump with a 02 tracker tank I have laying around. The wiring is plug and play. You have to splice a couple wires under your dash but you use the kick ECM and engine harness. You also need to put a speed sensor on your cluster. Again Brent can give you more details on all this.

The difference in power is great. I can cruise the freeway at 80 M.P.H. easily. You do lose a little low end torque though so gears are nice.

Picture from a top speed run on the freeway I did last year.

I probably got a little more out of it but, The motor had a few miles on it and driving a sammy that fast is not fun.

You should not have a problem finding one there. They are kinda rare up here in Oregon. Look for 4 door kick's for cheap. They all had the 16v. As far as the HP goes, they only have like 90. But the sammy's light weight makes it feel like a lot more.
