Cummins 4bt in a Sami

Anybody done this?

Thinking about giving it a shot and just wondering if anyone has tackled this one.

That is way too big and heavy it would tear it apart, I used to put them in p style vans like ups has, they would lift the front tires three feet off the ground if you missed the clutch pedal and tear the bell housing in two. there is a newer small diesel out there I have seen them put into motorcycles, and maybe a perkens I think it is a three cylinder.

The weight of a 4bt in a Samurai would be enough to keep me from doing it.  The Samurai is agile, partially due to its weight.

There are several VW options that work great in a Samurai with minimal change in wheelability.

VW is getting expensive though - are there any other alternatives? What about the ones used in skip loaders (bobcat style)?

I have seen some samurai sized diesel engines in fork lifts.  Possibly a wee bit underpowered but its an idea.

All the bobcat and cat skid steer engines i have looked at seems a little big.

     Jeep has a new 4 cylinder diesel I was reading about in 4 wheel magazine.Light,powerful and efficient,but expensive.worth a thought mabey.
