Running Driver's Drop Axles
« on: May 29, 2008, 08:11:25 AM »
I did some searching and didn't come up with much that made sense.  I'm a jeep guy thinking about coming to the dark side and don't know much about zuks.

What would I need to do to flip the case and run driver's drop axles?  Any buildups of this that you know of?

i run full width 44's pass side drop front center rear, works real well, most guys run toyota or waggys to stay street legal (width wise) toyota land cruiser axles work great because front and rear are pass drop but a cv on the rear driveline works fine with centered rears, even at freeway speeds

cruiser axles are giant a buddy of mine told me the specs once somethin like equivalent to a dana 44 or 60 stronger than a mini truck but just as narrow and pass drop front and rear, but i belive they actually had drum brakes on the front someone makes a disc conversion where you supply your own mini truck knucles, try www.cruiseroutfitters.com kurt williams i belive real nice guy toyota guru land cruiser fanatic he would know alot more about the cruiser axles, i know mostly toyota 8 inch minitruck stuff but those are pretty hard to find well the fronts anyway rears get given away all the time :-\
if you have junk yard connections or a larger pocket book try to find a newer tacoma style with the e locker you can find two and put the third member up front also. or just buy the complete third from the dealer for 900 bones each

I guess it depends what year cruiser axles you use the late model axles are a bit wider then the mini truck axles and are costly but are beeeeefy

My friends sami with 95 cruiser axles if you look the wheels have a positive offset and still stick out a ways
