what i meant was can you just add a 4wd front housing and an input shaft and shifter and make it a 4wd case?

Yes, you can.
You will need the shifter part of the tcase (that bolts in place of that plate on the front side of the 2wd case, the shifter, shift rails, couplers for the front output, a front output shaft, and you can add the 4wd indicator switch to the shifter housing.
As mentioned though, it may be cheaper to just find a 4wd case or find a 4wd with a broken case and swap the parts over to the good 2wd case.

You must not get out much......or you live in a place where 4wd is needed a lot.
Here in the central US, I see more 4wd trackicks....but I have seen a lot of 2wds too.

Is the 2-wheel drive t-case a reduction box or just an drive offset box?

oh yes...................and................are zuki owners cool with old Jeepers?

Basicly it's just a drive offset box.

It IS a reduction box.....it has the same 1.409:1 high range reduction as the 4wd tcase.  It also offsets the rear output, just like the 4wd tcase too.

In the city i live i have only seen one and

Or if you wanted to drop the x-case you would have to run 5.25:1 R&P to get the stock performance.

Yep, and with the 6.5 gears you put in yours it's even lower

No, I just make the stuff up that I post.
Yes, there is a high range reduction in the 2wd tcase.....just like in the 4wd tcase.  All 86-95 samurais run the 1.3 engine and the 3.73 axle gears......so just because it is 2wd, doesn't mean it can get away without running the reduction in the tcase.....it would be pitifully slow and underpowered with a 1:1 high range (like the samurais aren't already).
