Whether you have to swap the tranny or just the transfer case will depend on which 2wd tranny is in there. There were 2 different ones. One uses a dummy t-case and your tcase will bolt right on. The other is a pure 2wd tranny with no dummy case and you will have to either swap your entire transmission/tcase over or fab up a sammy type divorced tcase to work with your 2wd tranny. Keep in mind the second option of fabbing a custom tcase will probably require custom driveshafts.
The front diff has 3 mounts on the frame of the 4wd: one on each side and one in the middle. The left or driver's side mount on the frame is missing on the 2wd models(usually) and you will have to cut it off the 4wd's frame and get it welded on to the 2wd's frame. Other than that, the other 2 mounts are already there on the 2wd frame.
The rest of the stuff swaps right over, like the front spindles, hubs, cv shafts and driveshaft. The fact that the 2wd has the 5 speed as well means the rear axle already has the correct ring and pinion to match the front diff from the 4wd, so you wont even have to open the diff housing, just bolt it up once you get the hanger in there. The 2wd front spindles have caps covering the hole for the cv shafts, you might be able to knock them out instead of swapping over the spindle, but it might leave spot welds behind that could mess stuff up. Good luck with your swap!
