Is anyone elses samurais really cold in the morning/ night or on colder days. My heat seems to work but im nto shure if its good enough. the cab seems just a little warmer than outside when driving. when i go wheeling and go slower it seems to get warmer. i cannot feel any drafts. Oh and its a tintop.  any ideas?

Maybe your thermostat is stuck open, and check the valve on the firewall to make sure It is working properly.

Way cool... Thanks for the "hot" tip. My Samurai has been real weenie in the heat department for many years. I can't wait to get the hole saw out.

Insulated headliner has helped a ton.  Less road noise too.

My sidekick with the canvas top was one step from hanging my head out the window during some of our below zero days.  Gloves were a must.  :^)  The engine temp never got more than a touch above cold.  I could see it raise a hair while driving and dropping occasionally so the engine thermostat was doing something but I felt it wasn't 100%.  So went to autozone and they list the stock thermostat at 180 degrees but also sell a 192 degree duralast thermostat for $9.  Actually gets to over a third of the guage now and my cabin heat seems much warmer.  For me it was worth the time putting it in.  Plus gave me a reason to flush the old coolant.  Nice thing about the sidekick radiator (and probable the samurai) is it has a plastic twist radiator drain plug so I didn't have to deal with anything rusted/corroded.  I don't know if I'll have any problems on the trails this summer with a 192 degree thermostat but I can't image it would be a big deal.  And it so, its only a 15 minute job to swap out.  :^)

At first the heater control vavle was stuck to cold when i corrected it it made a differnce so i bought one. I previously purchased this part brfore i made the post. so i still feel its just not good enough. I will tear it back apart this weekend as i feel the vents might be clogged. the floor pushes out more air than panel or deffrost. izook is very helpful as well thanks

Only cool air will come out of the dash/panel vents (because of the way the system is designed).  Hot air only comes out of the defrost vents and the floor vents....depending on how you have the selector positioned.

Yea i figured this. the first thing i did was try to follow vents because i was surpirsed it only blew cold air. does your floor seem to blow more than the rest. the panel  I would think would blow more do to the fact it bypasses the heating system.

I'd say the floor and dash vents blow about equal.  The defrost is the weakest, since it has to blow down through the heater coil, then the air has to go back up through the tubes along the side of the center airbox assembly to reach the top of the dash.
