t-case gears for GV 2500cc
« on: January 12, 2008, 03:36:52 AM »
Hi,

a simple question cause we have to deside what to do :

we have a GV 2.500cc (2002+ model) and we want to put a crawler gear set like Calmini, or Trailtough, ect.

Does anyone have already done that?
Does the 2.5 L GV uses the same t-case box with 1600cc or 2000cc  ?

I know that the 2.5L gearbox is different compaired to 1600 but also that its possible to fit a 1600 t-case with crawler gears behind the 2.5 L gearbox.

We are ready to buy the crawler set but could anyone give a hand with that?

Thanks for your time, waiting your replies!

My understanding is that the crawler gears only fit in the 2.5 V6 auto transfer cases and NOT the manual cases so if you have an auto then your in luck  ;D
1600 Escudo / Kick, beam front, coils all round, 37 MTR's, 97" wheelbase, locked fr & rr,twin stick, front stock ratio, Calmini 5.14 t box rear, Warn XD9000i winch, blah blah!

2.0 V6 auto, Calmini 3" kit, 33" jandles, LT struts, blah blah

2.5 V6 man GV, Calmini 2.5" kit, 235/85x16 jandle

I think that its not possible to fit in a manual 2.5 t-case too, but has anybody tryied that yet ?

Just to know what the differences are ?

Is it better to get a t-case with crawler set from a 2.0L or a 1.6L and bolt it to the 2.5 L manual gearbox?

Anyone who have done that ?

Thanks 8)

Yes, Calmini has, and no, they don't work.  Input shaft is either too long or too short, I can't remember which.

Can't be done, as I mentioned above, it's the input shaft issue.

Not to get Pirate on your arse, but this could have been answered from a proper SEARCH of this forum. :P

LOL!  I swear, if one more person asks, "What's the largest tire I can run on a stock Sidekick?", I'm gonna go postal!  :police:
