Trying to put a sammy T-case in an SJ, having some problems though.

The SJ flanges on the drive shafts dont seem to fit on the 88 T-case flanges that well. I have spare flanges for the SJ and the sammy, so I need to switch some out? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Sadly, 88.5 is the transfer point where they switch to the larger flanges.  There are two ways to fix it.  One is to just drill out the flanges with new bolt up.  The other is to just to replace the top half of your drive shaft with the larger mount.  They use the same U-Joint, so you just need the upper flange.  If you order a new flange, you can even have it drilled out to fit both the pre-88.5 flange and the post 88.5 flange.

When I put the Tracker diffs in my SJ I sent my drive shafts off to Hawk Suzuki and had them put different flanges on the end.

I was thinking that the issue was with the change from the early 88's to the later 88.5's bolt spacing, but was not really sure on the SJ410 part. I would have posted this info earlier but could not remember the index size to compare the two. And in index, I mean the index part of the flange to drive shaft.

Hmmm, I could be wrong then.  I know they made some changes in 83 to the SJ-410, but I thought the flanges stayed the same size.

In '83 they changed the internals of the case so that crawler gears can be fitted but the 1L had different flanges to the 1.3

I'm going to be dealing with this soon as I have just bought a '82 lwb trayback to play with and it has the older style t-case that won't take crawler gears.

But if you get a pre-88.5 Sammy Transfer case it should have the same size flanges so you can swap it in without changing your drive shafts.
