also I just went out and checked the canister in my 94 and the bottom hose is missing so I'm guessing it is a drain just incase you fill the gas tank too much and over fill the charcol canister it just drains out the bottom. I have a 1994 and a 1995 and a 1996  16 valve so if ya need more just let me know which one to look at.

the inlet on the bottom of the canister is where the vapor line from the tank is supposed to come in. sounds like yours fell off or is missing. not good if you ever go in the water.

I guess I will have to look at the 96 to see where it goes or went? mine looks just like yours a 94/5 white four door auto, It does not see any off road so im good on the water part but I live on a dirt road up in the hills so I do need to fix it, my rigs need to slow down a little bit on repairs so I can get caught up  ::)

Yea, mine is a 95 too. I bought it for $500 with a cracked cyl. head so I've been all over the engine compartment with a fine tooth comb when I was getting' it up and going. If you have any questions just post 'em,... I might be able to help.
