Hello all, I need to replace the upper heim joint on my kick with the Calmini 3" kit. Has anyone used a Jonny joint or another type of joint? I keep wearing out the heim joint and they are getting expensive. Also has anybody used different bushings in the rear trailing arms I also ruin them in short order.

   PS You should also use nylock nuts on the trailing arm bolts, I've lost a few

Something to consider:

Install a spacer block that would lower the upper end of the joint thus bringing the flex angle at that place back to stock.  Since it is up high, it won't hang on anything when offroading.

I have the Calmini 3inch kit and have done Hagen's overrotation. the prob. is the heim gets worn out too fast.

Is it wearing because of dirt getting on it. Maybe a rubber boot packed with grease would help.

I'm thinking that A jonny joint will work better

Are the Johnny Joints still on national back order?  It seems like a while ago there were lots of places that were saying they could not get them in stock.

I think rubicon express was making their own version of the johnny joint.  Give them a call and see if they have something that can be made to suit your calmini piece.

you need to measure between the mounting ears on the axle bracket to make sure a johnny joint or RE joint will fit in there. they are kinda wide. you can buy heims with grease fittings that may help.

How often are you replacing it and what price are you paying for the replacement? its just a 3/4x3/4 heim

Yes!  Use the johnny joint.  Then you will need to post up pictures of teh install and let us know how it is working out.  If you repositioned the rear shocks I think that you could make that motha' flex a lot better.  Just guessing though.

As stated above the Johnny Joints are pretty wide, but with a little effort and fab I'm sure that it could be made to work.  Remember to post pictures.

Ya I know that I will have to widen the perch that bolts to the 3rd member, and refab a new v ilnk. I was just interrested to see what and if anybody had done this before. I am probabally going to use the Rubicon Express joint but mount it with the  ball sideways so the pin will be vertical. This way there will be less "side to side" pressure on the races in the joint. I hope it will last.
