Powersteering?
« on: September 09, 2007, 10:21:54 AM »
Whats everyone doing for powersteering on their samis?
I can get full toyota powersteering, but im not sure if thats what i want to do.  Due to the fact of haveing to mount the box on the outside of the frame.
Is it better to go with a zuki steering box, with a toyota P/S pump? or will that not work?

Any information would be great

My sidekick box works ok but it would be nice to get like a redneck ram on it if I was only doing rock crawling but I drive logging roads and an occasional downed tree or rock gets in the way no big deal just run a big cooler on it, it is a lot easyer swap, one hole lines up and you have to drill two holes in the frame and weld in two pieces of pipe and weld a coupler together for the steering shaft if you dont buy an adapter plate or make one, I run 33x13.50 ltbs you can tell that they are there but more so when going slow,I would put a 12v fan on the pumps cooler if I did alot of rocks, and maybe a two low twin stick kinda thing for front locker.

Can you put toyota powersteering pumps to zuk boxes?

I will probbly end up just mounting the toyota steering box on it, im sure with toyota axles, 1.5" wheel spacers, and with 10.5 swampers i shouldnt have to worry about the tire hitting the box. If so i guess i could just adjust my steering stops and sacrifice some turning radius.

Thanks for the info.
