TUNING A CARB ON A '87 SAMMI
« on: July 18, 2007, 09:27:00 PM »
Ok this is killing me, i just bought another sammi (an '87 soft top, bone stock for a $1000) it was basically an rv trailer rig. Anyways, I would like to tune the carb, cuz i know for sure this thing is flooding, it idles like a purring kitten with lung cancers, sputters, and stalls all the time at idle. I usually have someone who knows what theyre doing do this for me, but i decided heck, you guys should know just as good if not better. Thanks in advance for all the help, I greatly appreciate it.

You might try replacing the infamous samurai vent tube...
I got sick of playing with my stock carb, and was going to order a reman unit, but decided to use a Weber instead(reman was $395, Weber was $399). It only took about an hour to install/tune, and the performance difference is huge. Easily the most beneficial mod I have done to my Samurai so far...
