i run 225/75/16 at the stock GV 16'' rims.
No spacers....nothing , but only a 2,5'' calmini lift.

The tires i run now are 29+'' and i want to get something close to 30''-31'' max (including 2'' BL if needed), cause i have stock 5.12 r/p ratio.

I don't drive all day-everyday in mud, rocks, ect so i need a tire like Interco Thornbird for on road use also..... 2 in 1 



I don't know if these tires are heavier than a simple M/T (BFG, BRID, ect).
Has anybody tryied then yet?
Do you think they worth the time and money?
I like the tread i also like the height but i cant find the width i like........
10.5'' - 11.5'' is a much for my 1600 GV.

Will that tire in 31'' size for example be ok with a 15x8 rim, 2,5'' susp. and 2'' BL ?
Backspace of the rim?
Any ideas?

What tires do you run in your GV?

I'm not sure if this is a joke. but that is the loudest, heavyest, ruffest most un road friendly tire I have ever used. If you driving on pavement stay away from those things. I ran them on my sidekick and they were terrible. If you want muds and you drive a Vitara then stick with pro comp, BFG or something like that. The swampers are great offroad tires but are very bulky and heavy for on road.
The TSL radials are decent but still loud.

i have never tryied a tire like that, and i just asked cause as i said... i need something for on-road too and thats a tire i thought it may be ok for me.

So you said that it's not ok for on-road, right?
Maybe a BFG MT would be better as i understood, correct?
What is th problem on pavement?  when turning at "high" speed, brakes, when it rains...ect ?
Can you explain?

The lug or tread on the Thornbird is very thick...very thick. Driving would be like running in heavy steel tow work boots instead in light weight runners. They are very loud and ruff. If you want mudders that will be driven on road a lot. From my experience the BFG and Pro Comp mud terrains are great. i'm sure there are lots of other too. Even for stricktly mud and offroad the thornbird kinda sucks.

To be specific, the tire i want for my GV is 215/85/16....... 30,5''.
Thats a very good size that i like but i said that if i go around to 30.5'', why don't takle a look at the Thornbird "2 in 1" at the 30'' ?

Anyway i have to think it a bit more.

gv1600 - my experience with Zuks is to run tyres that are light weight and have soft side walls. They do not have much rotating mass for our light weight steering systems to deal with and the soft side walls help "soften" the ride with our light weight rigs.
Just my 2c - I run 33" Goodyear Wranglers on my 3 door and Hankook 235/85x16 on my 5 door V6 GV. BFG's and the likes are your best bet. Even AT's will perform well as an all rounder. Good luck.

i agree with you, but i just made a though which i almost knew that it was wrong.
I also had never used such a tire (like Tsl) so thats why i though that it MAY be a good option for me.....thats all. 

Finally, i have to go (possibly) with the Hankook MT and the size i want..... 215/85/16.
That would be great for my 1600cc GV.

Notice all of that Thornturd self cleaning action...

They're the biggest, heaviest tires that at the same time suck so bad it isn't funny.  The big blocky tread lugs have small tread voids in between them so they gum up with mud and don't help you in any way but at the same time the same blocky lugs hydroplane on the road, follow ruts, and don't give you many biting edges for traction.
Thorturds are for looks.  gv1600 I know you're not in America but over here they pretty much have a reputation as a tire for posers and show trucks.  You rarely see them on the trail and even the people that have them usually don't buy them a second time.

If you want a tire like that consider the TSL, TSL Radial, IROK, or Bogger.  They're all FAR, FAR, FAR better offroad and better on road.
