My Aerio was clunking...
« on: July 04, 2011, 02:51:20 PM »
Hey guys,

Thought I'd just share this tidbit of information. My Aerio's been clunking during acceleration, shifting gears, going around corners and so on. It got slowly worse... Nate was thinking it might have been a motor mount. I looked myself for a bit, then took the car to Les Schwab. They deemed it was the struts and replaced them, which didn't fix it. I *did* have a small amount of chattering, which that DID fix, but...

Today I crawled under the car to look for myself again, thinking I'd see if the exhaust was loose, maybe something was funky with the sway bar, so on. I took a couple of socket wrenches with me and started checking if things were tight. I had seen a post from another site about some guy's A-Arm bolt being loose, so I thought I'd check that too.

Guess what. My main A-Arm bolt, on the driver's side, was loose. Seriously. It didn't look loose, but when I put my socket wrench on it, I got about two turns out of it.  :o

So, if any of you are getting any noise from the front... please check your A-Arm bolts.

Nuts.

It doesn't make any noise now.  :-[
