Found out something interesting that may help other "Sport" model owners out there. I own a '97 model Sidekick "Sport". I just finished installing a new exhaust from the cat back, and used a driver's side tailpipe from a 93 Mustang 5.0L. I had a pair of tailpipes left from a Mustang I used to own, and after looking at them I realized that the driver's side had almost identical bends as the stock tailpipe. So, using a Borla muffler that I also had left over, I managed to make everything fit under with no rubbing. Now, the tailpipes I used were Flowmaster 2.5", as was the Borla muffler, but a stock Mustang used 2" or 2.25" pipe, which would work even better. I ran 2" pipe to the muffler, then stepped it up to match the Borla and tailpipe. 2.5" is probably overkill, but I had everything on hand(and it was already paid for!). I had to fab a couple of hangers, and a new flange to bolt to the converter, but any muffler shop should have these things on hand. The new pipe ended up about 3 inches too long, but a visit from my cutoff wheel solved that.  I don't know if this mod will work on a regular Sidekick, I think the frames are different, but it may be worth a look. With just about every Mustang you see sporting an aftermarket exhaust, stock Mustang  tailpipes should be easy and cheap to find. I'll try and get some pics tomorrow up on a lift.
