1 liter metro engine in Kick?
« on: April 04, 2007, 02:23:43 AM »
Does anyone know if the little 1.0L engine from a Metro will bolt in to a Track/Kick? I know they also used the 1.3 in some Metros.

do you really want to put a 50 hp motor in a tracker?

It's just an idea for getting great mileage and still having the use of 4 wheel drive. More of a experiment. I know it wouldn't be great off road and would have to stay with small tires. More for commuting around town.

Just put a Sammi straight axle under a Metro.   ;D

I actually pondered the same thing! My idea was to use the engine out of the 1989 chevy sprint turbo. They were a peppy 3cyl turbo that got great milage. Where there's a will there's always a way!

would a 50hp 1.0L even pull a sidekick up a hill?  ???  i think that would hurt more than help.

Just because the engine gets good mileage in a small sleek car doesn't mean it will get good mileage in a larger heavier tracker. It is so underpowered for that vehicle it will probably get worse mileage than your 1.6.

Yeah, without gearing changes I can't imagine that engine would work in a tracker at all. The 1.6 is pretty small. You'd be going uphill in 3rd gear at 30 mph at 5,000 rpms. Just a guess.

Here in Okinawa they drive 660cc 970cc in a Sammy(Jimny) stock.  Of course they have turbo, too.

you would definatley get worse gas mileage because the engine would have to work that much harder to move the vehicle. it would be hard on the engine too because it was not designed to move that much weight.

I think too much weight in a tracker for a 1.0L.
