Disconnecting ABS.. how?!?!
« on: December 11, 2006, 11:59:36 AM »
Yes, I want to Disconnect my ABS.

Do you guys have any ideas?

I fkn hate it! Its just plain dangoerus when offroading in the snow! One time it was the main reason I went backwards over a HUGE rock..

(Here´s a picture of the stone.. I went over it backwards and all the freaking brakes did was a drum solo! In the picture we have already pulled the stone a little bit, the car sat on the front drive shaft when it finally stopped)

Pull the fuse or add a switch some place that will trip an ABS light to come on which should  kill it all so.

I've thought of that as well.  Is the fuse linked to any other control, or is it just dedicated to the ABS?  Thanks.

The ABS Control Module is supplied by two fuses:

No 21  IG METER 20 A - Wire is Black/white stripe

No 2  Main Fuse 50A   - 2 wires Black/blue stripe

I think the Black/white may just be power for the indicator, so you probably need to interrupt the Black/blue.  Note that the supply splits into two wires into the module - I don't know where the split is in the harness.

The module is the large unit under the hood.

Let us know how you get on!

I'm lazy to wiring, just unplug one of the  ABS connectors in engine room. Usually I do the right(black) one (more space to do it, mine is RHD GV). It's better to switch off the engine when plug or unplug it, then restart the engine will reset the computer.
