I talked to the yard again they said its a 2003 XL-7 Vitara, with 5:13 gears (auto). They also said its steel. I`m going to take a magnet when I go look at it.

From everything I've read, if it's an auto, it's not steel.

if its an 03 it should be steel AT or Man. Before that man only for steel.  In the Xl-7 line the auto has 5.12's and Man. has 4.3. R&P's  As far as the mount goes you will need to fab something up.  The a GV housing would be bolt in deal. So that would be the way I would try to go.

You won't need a magnet.  The aluminum are a silver color and the steEl ones are black and rusty.

the trim is LXT and its a tracker. Prob V6 auto and it will be all alum. so no good to you! I just looked at one locally. plus I think they had 4.30:1 gears or something like that.

This is why I asked. I got the LT Tracker and as far as I know there is no steel third factory in the Tracker.

I thought only steel fronts went into the Sidekicks.  That's why I had to drive to Lansing to a Zuki dealer so I could order one.  It was the closest one around.

If the Trackers had one I could have just went 2 miles down the road and ordered one.  Plus the junk yards around here have Trackers, not Sidekicks, so a used one would have been cheaper.

They are in the GrandVitara 5speed and the XL-7s. Even if Chevy had one you would have been better off buying it at the Suzuki dealership. Chevy charges more at there parts department so I go to Suzuki's parts department to get parts for my Tracker. I just tell them it's a GrandVitara which it is ::)

They are easy to tell a part as theres slight differences between the steel and alloy heres what to look for ..

The middle one is alloy and outer ones steel.

The Alloy has an extra gusset under the long side and four bolts on the end vs three bolts on the steel one.

Steel has four bolts vs three bolts for the alloy on the short side (you'd figure it would be the other way around  ???)

The alloy  is filleted behind the short side mount and the steel is solid (once again you'd think it should be the other way  ???)

May I please have one of those steel housings sent to 123 Dirt Road Virginia Beach, VA. Also if it's not to much trouble can you include the steel third with gears to match an "04 Tracker. One other thing can this all be done for free via FedEx.

Thank you very much

I've had alloy housings with both types of fixings. The rust and the weight is the easiest way to tell them apart.

I'll tell ya what,

Seems you asked so nicely, you pay for the FedEx Charges and you can have one of those housings minus the 3rd thou  ;D.

The steel one I got out of the diesel Vitara had so much oil over we couldn't tell when it was on the trucklet, We were robbing the 4.3 gears out of it for my mate who I gave the other 4.3s out of my first one for his Sammy and got a hell of a shock to find out it was steel. The best part was we were only charged for a alloy one cause they didn't realize it was steel either  ;D

I've had a good week 'cause I just picked up a GV steel third and housing for USD$300 here in OZ  ;D Pity the it's an air actuated diff as the 26 spline shaft won't go straight in with my ARB. Might see about a trim and respline. Might be able to sell the 4.3 r&p to a Sammi owner.

As for the 3 and 4 bolt fixings on each end of the housing, well I've seen every permutation on alloy housings. Suzuki just kept playing with different mountings. There are even castings where they could have put the 4th bolt but they haven't tapped it. And sometimes some of the holes are drilled and tapped right through into the housing and sometimes they are blind holes.
