NEW TO THE FORUM. 1ST POST. ILL TRY TO SPELL CORRECTLY.
BOUGHT A 87 SAMI. 1.3L REBUILT AND BORED OVER, ISKY CAM, HEADER, WEBER CARB.
THE WEBER IS A 32/36 DGV MANUAL CHOKE. FORMER OWNER SAID IT NEVER IDLED RIGHT. WHILE DRIVING IT WOULD GO FROM STALLING TO IDLE REVS AT 2000 RPMS.
IM TRYING TO ADJUST THE ILDE. FOLLOWING ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS BUT NO LUCK.
MY 1ST QUESTION IS ABOUT THE VACUUM LINES.
THERE IS A VACUUM LINE CONNECTION ON THE CARB NEXT TO THE IDLE MIXTURE SCREW. IS IT SUPPOSE TO BE CONNECTED TO SOMETHING? MINE IS CAPPED OFF WITH A RUBBER COVER. DOSENT LOOK RIGHT TO ME. IF ANYONE KNOWS THE ROUTING OF THE VACUUM LINES I COULD USE THE HELP.
FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH THE WEBER CARB, DID YOU GET RID OF THE CANISTER? IF SO WHAT DO YOU CONNECT THE DISTRIBUTOR VACUUM LINE TO? MINE IS CONNECTED TO THE CANISTER.
LAST QUESTION. THE FUEL INLET ON THE CARB IS BIGGER THAT THE STOCK FUEL PUMP INLET. I HAVE A 3/8 FUEL LINE FROM THE CARB TO ONE OF THOSE CHEEPO CLEAR PLASTIC FUEL FILTERS. THEN A SMALLER DIAMETER HOSE FROM THE FILTER TO THE FUEL PUMP. AGAIN THIS DOSENT LOOK RIGHT TO ME.
The first thing that sounds very wrong from the above description (aside from the SHOUTING -- bad netiquette ÂÂ

) is the fact that the distributor advance vacuum line is connected to the cannister.

The distributor vacuum advance (marked by the red arrow) should be connected to the port on the carburetor just below the choke mechanism (yours may look different as it is manual) next to the adjuster screw as seen in the picture. If things look "funny" as how my carb is mounted, that's because it is installed backwards to reduce stalling while climbing steep inclines.
All other vacuum lines on the manifold should be closed off.
Edit: Sorry, that should read "All other vacuum lines other than the one that drives the brake booster should be closed off." Sorry about that...For more information on setting the idle, do a search for
weber at Ack's FAQ (a link is in my signature). There you will find a link to an article at iZook.com on weber tuning by the master, Sarge. You will also find a link to Sarge's website and a pdf copy of the Weber installation and maintenence manual.
Hope this helps!
