30/9.5/15's are on with pics..
« on: September 08, 2006, 04:24:54 PM »
Well I got bored today waiting around for my Calmini lift kit to never show up so I decided to go get my new tires mounted and ballanced. They are 30/9.5/15's  BFGoodrich All Terrain TA ko's, and at stock height they still fit... lol   ;D I wouldn't go off roading or anything until I get my lift on but I was amazed that they fit and I could drive around on the roads without any issues. I bought 5 of the tires through TireRack and bought another alloy wheel off ebay to use as a spare. Anyway just thought I would share that that size tire fits and does not rub for paved roads anyway..
Here are a couple of pictures of the tires on the truck without any lift yet. I will post more after the lift shows up and I install it..

I like. There was a guy on offroad.com with a red four door that had mounted 30" tires with no lift. They said it couldn't be done.

Yep, it is the same old story - "you can't fit those without this much lift". And so you go out and buy your tyres BEFORE the lift goes in only to discover you could have fitted bigger rubber  >:(

My advise - ALWAYS fit a lift FIRST and then go out and buy the rubber  :-\
Wheel off set makes a huge difference here  ;)

So you just put them on with no other modification at all?

My 4 door with spacers needed front plastic bumper trimmed, inner plastic fender removed, and some modification to the rear of the front fender.

I suppose he means he has them on and they don't rub on flat ground. But if he goes offroad he definitely will have rub...

Personally even with spacers I was lucky to get a 1 turn out of the steering wheel before rubbing something and that was on road. If you can only turn that much I wouldn't say the tires fit very well.

I could probably fit 30's on my mini van and drive strait down the road, that doesn't mean they fit.

I can turn full lock each way and I don't hit anything. As far as street driving goes they are fine, really they are fine. I said I wouldn't take it offroading without the lift on it though. Because I wouldn't wan't to take a chance, but I am having a feeling it still would be ok. At the tire shop, after we had them mounted and on the tracker we turned the steering wheel to full lock each way and was looking to see how much clearance it had. Everyone was very surprized. Even pushing down on the bumpers it still had a little room.  :o
It for sure will be better with the lift on, but I'm sure I could run these fine If I didn't  already order the lift and I didn't really want to lift the truck.. ;)

it can all depend on tires, one brand of tire will say 30x9.5 but it will actually measure 29.8 or so
and another tire same size of a diff brand will measure 31.2

the 36" irocks on mt tracker actually measue 36.8 more of a 37 than a 36......

I am surprised considering I am running the same tires. They rubbed enough when turning  that I wouldn't even consider driving on the road. Regardless it looks good and would love to see a pic after the lift.

Wow, no rub even at full lock? ??? I get rub with my lifted car and 235/70-16, which should be 29" and they really are 29" measured. Either yours are smaller or your wheels have different backspacing or your car is special. :o

This could be because anyone that is familier with the Trackicks know that the size tire you could fit with NO LIFT was dependant on where your truck was built ie; Japan or Canada. The years made a difference too. Some could fit up to 31 with no lift will others could bearly turn the wheel with
225-75-R15 on them.

Any word on your Calmini lift kit yet. When it shows up I'll be surprised with ya. I'm hoping you get it soon because I would realy like to see a positive change with this company. I realy want their lift but after being treated like dirt over some NERF bars for a "99+ and a lowering kit for a "98- it left a bad taste in my mouth. Please keep us informed on this.

I called Calmini last night to check on the order. They told me it should be delivered on the 12th. So it looks like I will be doing the lift kit next Sunday if everything stays the same.

i can't imagine the frame dimensions are different no matter where they were built, or the suspension components.  mine i'm told was built in canada, maybe maybe not..  but i had some 30 AT's that measured in nice and small and had little to no sidelugs and seemed not to rub but they did touch the frame slightly.  when i put 30 muds i felt the lugs rubbing like hell, these tires might have measured 1/2inch taller than my AT's.  i'd try getting into a parking lot locking that wheel and doing a few cirlces both directions, i bet you'll have a nice polished spot on your frame!

I'm not sure if it's the same with the TrackVits but with the *Trackicks* Japa or Cana  built made a difference.
