2007 SUZUKI SX4 DELIVERS FUNCTIONALITY,
BOLD ATTITUDE, PERFORMANCE

America’s most affordable standard all-wheel-drive vehicle,
Suzuki’s compact sport X-over features excellent utility in a stylish package

Designed for those who live an adventurous life consistent with Suzuki’s “Way of Life brand philosophy, the 2007 Suzuki SX4 compact sport X-over (crossover) is sure to be a year-round standout in any driving condition.

The all-new SX4 (the name stands for (S)port (X)-over for (4) seasons of weather) features a handsome five-door hatchback design, a sophisticated standard all-wheel-drive system, excellent stability and crisp handling characteristics.  The eye-catching vehicle combines numerous amenities with capable handling and a long list of safety features to offer an unexpected level of functionality at an affordable price.  The SX4 is the most affordable all-wheel-drive vehicle in the United States.

As with all 2007 Suzuki automobiles, the SX4 is backed by America’s #1 Warranty:  100,000-miles/seven-year, fully transferable, zero-deductible powertrain limited warranty.

Powertrain
Built in Japan, the SX4 features a sophisticated 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, 16-valve DOHC engine matched to a five-speed manual transmission or an available specially tuned four-speed automatic transmission.  The 2.0-liter engine delivers 143 horsepower and 136 lb.-ft. of torque and an estimated EPA fuel economy rating of 24 mpg/city and 30 mpg/highway with automatic transmission.

Dynamic Handling
The body and chassis of the SX4 evolved from the award-winning Suzuki Swift design that helped Suzuki earn numerous industry awards worldwide, including many “Car of the Yearâ€? awards in Europe and Asia.  The SX4 features a rigid steel unibody and well-managed chassis that was fine-tuned in Europe to provide good stability on the highway along with crisp and responsive handling and braking and minimal body roll.  High body rigidity along with reinforced suspension mounts allow the front MacPherson struts and rear torsion beam suspension to work to their full potential.  The combination of wide track and a large 16-inch wheel and tire package help make the ride even more comfortable.  The SX4 also features large four-wheel disc brakes as standard equipment.

Standard All-Wheel Drive
The well-equipped SX4 is configured as a five-door compact hatchback fitted with intelligent all-wheel drive (i-AWD) as standard equipment.  The i-AWD system operates in three modes via a console-mounted switch – 2WD mode for maximum fuel economy on dry pavement; AWD Auto mode, which controls the drive power distribution ratio to the rear wheels from 0-50 percent, depending on available traction; and AWD Lock mode designed to facilitate traction in case of snow or mud.  When in Lock mode, power is distributed to the rear wheels in the range of 30-50 percent.  When the vehicle reaches 36 mph in AWD Lock mode, the system automatically switches to AWD Auto mode.

Safety Features
The SX4 offers customers an extensive array of standard safety features.  Active safety features include daytime running lights, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).  In addition, an Electronic Stability Program (ESP)1 (including traction control), standard on the XSport trim, generates a compensating yaw moment in the event of rear-wheel or front-wheel slip to help the driver return the car to its intended path of travel.  The traction control system (TCS) uses the brakes and engine torque reduction to enhance traction during launch and acceleration and to help maintain control on slippery surfaces or during emergency maneuvers.

Passive safety equipment includes a safety-reinforced body with front and rear crumple zones designed to help absorb impact energy.  The unibody design directs much of the impact energy away from the reinforced cabin area.

Six airbags are standard on the SX4:  driver and front passenger advanced airbags and side-impact airbags; and side curtain airbags designed to provide additional protection for outboard front- and rear-seat passengers.  In addition, the SX4 is fitted with front three-point seatbelts with pretensioners and force limiters, three-point emergency locking retractor rear seat belts, ISO FIX-compliant child seat anchors and a high-mounted stop lamp.

Bold Styling
In concert with Italian designers, and to fuse the vitality of sport utility vehicles with the elegance of passenger cars, Suzuki created a handsome, versatile car that delivers a poise and presence far beyond the SX4’s compact size.  Using a simple, elegant and flowing form that sits atop a purposeful, dynamic and substantial underlying structure, the SX4 looks as if it is moving even when standing still.

The body features a low, rising waistline and large, triangular-shaped windows forward of the front doors, giving the SX4 a sporty wedge shape indicative of its outstanding dynamic performance.  The front and rear silver bumper cover plates, the roof rails, the wide track and strong fender design also add to the appearance of traction and dynamic performance.  The design is pure Suzuki in form – exciting, multi-dimensional and playful.

Amenity-filled Interior
The practical X-over design continues inside the SX4.  Curves and smooth forms gently wrap around the driver and passengers, while circular motifs and a flowing center panel provide indications of the car’s dynamic performance and suitability to active lifestyles.  There is a quality look and feel to the materials and fabrics.  The dark, two-tone interior design features black cloth highlighted with brushed metal-look accents and wedge-shaped motifs – a look that is both refined and aggressive.  The ergonomic design of the instrument panel and dashboard provides intuitive use of the controls.  The large three-ring instrument cluster is easy to read and provides the driver with key information at a glance.

The handsome center stack contains a standard AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system with four speakers or an available six-disc in-dash CD AM/FM/MP3 audio system with nine speakers, including subwoofer (SX4 Sport) along with automatic climate control knobs and other controls.  It is a striking example of function and form. Both audio systems are XM Satellite Radio-capable.  Customers who want the convenience of a fully integrated iPod2 system can purchase an iPod interface from their Suzuki dealers.  Once the device is plugged in, it works seamlessly through the radio and playlists and each song’s information appear on the radio display.

With seating for five, the SX4 offers both utility and style.  The efficient interior dimensions provide both driver and passengers with comfort, and the exterior dimensions provide outstanding maneuverability for crowded city streets and parking areas.  The roomy interior offers generous legroom and shoulder room, even for the rear-seat passengers.  The SX4’s 90.0 cubic feet of interior space compares to that of the Subaru Impreza wagon and Audi A3.  SX4 also features wide door openings and theater-style seating for the rear passengers.

Practical rear 60/40 split-folding seats allow for stowage of longer items.  The second-row seats also can tumble forward for maximum cargo carrying ability.  Luggage room is 9.5 cubic feet and increases to 22.0 cubic feet with the rear seats folded forward.  In addition, there are many discreet storage compartments located throughout the cabin, and all the doors feature large pockets and bottle holders for added convenience.

Trim Levels and Packages
The all-new 2007 Suzuki SX4 comes in two trim levels:  SX4 and SX4 Sport.  In addition, the base SX4 offers an optional Convenience Package.  All trims are available in manual or automatic transmission and standard AWD.

The SX4’s standard features include six airbags; front driver and passenger airbags, driver and passenger side-impact airbags and side curtain airbags; four-wheel ABS with EBD, tire pressure monitoring system, front seatbelt pretentioners, power windows, locks and mirrors, remote keyless entry, air conditioning, AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system with four speakers, tilt steering wheel, 16-inch alloy wheels, black roof rails, daytime running lights, fender flares and bumper cover plates.

The Convenience Package adds cruise control and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated audio controls.

The SX4 Sport trim adds standard ESP with TCS, SmartPass keyless entry and start system, automatic climate control, six-disc in-dash CD changer and nine speakers (including subwoofer), heated mirrors, cruise control, leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated audio controls, silver color roof rails and fog lamps.

The SX4 is scheduled to go on sale in the United States in late August 2006.  The SX4 Sport will be available in November 2006.
