recharging air conditioner...
« on: July 22, 2006, 10:22:20 AM »
how hard is it to recharge an ac system?  the newer r134a or whatever it is.  my buddy at work told me there was a "kit" at walmart for like $30 to recharge it...  would one of these "kits" work for my '95 tracker?

It's really a no-brainer if the system only has a small leak and is 134a. Here's what I use:

It will work but remember to look up the required pressure for the system you dont want to run with low refridgerent or to much of a charge

call your local suki dealer and ask for the proper charge pressure

Yes, if you still have decent pressure, you can use that kit, as long as you make sure you don't over fill it.  But if you have no pressure, you should vacuum the system down, and see if it holds, if it doesn't  you will need to pressurize the system with nitrogen, (or something..) and check for leaks with soap bubbles. Usually it's the seal on the compressor.

If it is just low on freon, grab a freon can with gauge type hose as above and give it a try..
