Finally, I'll introduce myself...
« on: June 09, 2006, 08:17:46 PM »
I’ve been lurking here long enough…

I found this thing last summer. One of my Dad’s old high school friends bought it from him back in the day. Apparently, my pop’s still remembers when it came in on the carrier. First one in “Competition Blue he ever sold.

It was in amazing shape when I found it, just a little bit of rust, but nothing else wrong. I was just planning on using it as my DD for a year or two, but now I’m planning on keeping it as long as I can and looking around for a Sammy to start building as my trail rig…damn this place!

I had the body done. It’s undercoated. everything is pretty much spotless. I’m still trying to track down a strange miss at idle though.

Nice Tracker!. What preperation is involved to get a vehicle ready for undercoating? I also wonder if the Coating is permanent and if it will stop any rust that has stared on the undercaridge?

Thanks

I Worked for a parts vendor for a year that carried these undercoatings and yes you can apply them to rust and it will look better and will for the most part stop it from rusting farther, with the exception that if coat an area of rust, now it is sealed, and if their is water in there it will continue to rot, and you wont even see it until one day your undercoating cracks and your chassis starts sagging. You SHOULD treat the undercoating the same as you would treat paint on a classic. Prep everything and do it right the first time. Hope this helps...
