According to wikipedia, it's called the N36A and is built by Suzuki in Japan and then shipped to the assembly line in North America where the rest of the vehicle is made...I'd really like to confirm if that is true or not! Looks like it may also be somewhat related to the 3.6 V6 in the 2nd gen Colorado/Canyon trucks.
I have also read that the N36A is a larger version of the N32A which was in some of the later 3rd generation Grand Vitara's. On wikipedia it states that those engines were made by Holden in Australia.
