Brake light on 91 kick?
« on: April 27, 2006, 11:22:10 PM »
Hey everyone,
i just had my brake light come on when i was cruising down the road. i have

1. checked fluid and fluid switch
2. made sure it wasnt the e-brake
3. disconected rear abs sensor to see if it turned off
4. disconected the battery for 20 sec

wondering if anyone had any ideas. i hate having that red glow looking at me.
thanks,
lance

FWIW when you disconnect the rear ABS the light will come ON, not go off. :)

What I think is that you might have a dirty contact at your parking brake connection. Pull off your center console (should be a couple of screws and possibly some plastic clips) to access the base of your parking brake and check the wire attached to it.

Unless... you already did this when you said you "made sure it wasn't the e-brake".

Thanks for the reply,
i already checked the plug at the e brake. when you lift the handel up it gets brighter, so i think it isnt the ebrake. its just buggin me. do the sensors on the abs go out? how hard is it to change them? price?
thanks guys,
lance

Did you check your brake lights? Sometimes having a bulb out affects that dash light. I have had a bit of water (sigh) in the cab of my '91 and moisture got my switch one time. Might want to check that. Have you driven with the break on? And that includes stunting in the rain  ;D
