I use wd40 ( I used to use lps?)but not down the spark plug hole in a 16 valve engine, on an 8 valve I would pull the boots off and spray them real well, and the outside of the cap is ok, I have sprayed the inside but only on a five foot deep or more water hole or river and wiped it out afterwards just incase of collecting dust inside.
