I need help on a tranny question.
« on: February 01, 2006, 02:58:19 PM »
Ok the moron that had my kik before me " yes moron  he drilled a hole through the head into the block and used a 3/4 inch piece of all thread instead of a head bolt"   FYI  it has a newer rebuilt motor.   any back to the question the afor mentioned moron striped the tranny drain plugs, not the threads, the part that the 3/8ths ratchet goes into.    I talked to a cupple of trany places and
its going to range from 50 to 200 bucks to have them take it out ----- one of the tranny places told me that i should just take a cold chisel and hammer and use that to unscrew the pluge and just replace it with a new one.

what do you guys think?

If you are really careful you might be able to get that plug out that way. I have friend over here that is an absolute master at that. Me...I break my hand open on the case after running the cold chisel through my other hand.  ;D

You could drill a hole in the center and
use a big screw extractor to back it out.

I was thinking of a bolt extractor so i think what i will do is invest the 90 bucks into a good chisel set and bolt extractor set,  and a case of beer to bribe my buddy with a lift,  and spend an evening to get the bolt out seeing as chisels and extractors are things that you ALWAYS need

thank you and as always the imput is awsome.

You could just weld a long bolt to it and then just use a wrench on it!
