noises coming from tranny/transfer i believe
« on: January 15, 2006, 10:03:55 PM »
hi, not too long ago i installed a lockrite locker, a new clutch, and a 3 inch body lift. it seems that after one of them, i have loud noises coming from underneath. i can hear it well because i have no shifter boots on yet. it seems exceptionally worse in fifth gear. i will be driving, and let off the gas and hear a pchhh pchhhhhh  pchhhhhhhhhhhhhhh sound if that makes any sense lol. could this be a bad gear? or do i need heavier oil in tranny and transfer case because i put "farm" tractor universal gear/hydraulic oil in? i would like to fix this before my transmission goes kaput on a trip somewhere. thanks....

ya I would put some gl4-85 wt. in the trans and some gl5-85 wt. in the transfercase. what is the weight of the stuff you are using and is it a high detergent oil?
