Secure tailpipe and muffler
« on: January 10, 2006, 01:39:18 AM »
One of the first things I will put on my new machine [ besides a header ] will be a Calmini rear bumper. Anyway with my last JX [ STOCK ] I damaged the rear tailpipe and melted the rear bumber a bit within the first week of owning the thing. I was forced to turn around in a tight trail and must have brushed up against the bush causing enough pressure to bend the pipe. I later took the Sidekick to my local exhaust shop and had them inspect it [ free of course ]. The problem involved the muffler and it not being tacked right causing it to move around easily. They fixed it up at no cost and I hadnt bent anything. We also noticed that the rear bumper was melted a bit where the tail pipe exits. I would guess this is a common thing with these. I would like to know what setup to I should use after I install the Calmini rear twin tube. I ran a search but that didnt come up with much but I am sure there's alot of people running this bumper. I am thinking there's really only one style of tail pipe?

Anyhelp is good

THANKS

What I am really looking for is a setup that stays clear of trail obstacles and stuff. I had a 1989 Mazda B2600i 4X4 TRUCK that had an excellent tailpipe setup stock. There must be a different way to run the tailpipe after I install the Calmini rear bumper.

ANYHELP IS GOOD

THANKS

that pic was with the right front tire up on a tree stump.
With 32'inc tires.
Ya. It does look like it rubs but it doesn't really.
And

I just noticed a few days ago, that the 2dr and 4dr rear bumper covers are diffrent.  The 4dr does not have a hole in it (or indentation) like the 2dr.  I wonder why they are diffreng.  When I got my zuk, my tail pipe was rusted out at the last bend, and promptly broke off the first time I went over a "bump".   ::)  After seeing Hotrod's rear calmini bumper, I think I like it.  Calmini should have a good close up of their products.  I am not quite sold on the tubes on the Shrockworks front bumper, and he has yet to return my email on the price of that and the sliders. (Oops, got off the exaust subject)

I'm sure it could, just not what they're up to doing.

I'm sure they could sell it, like their 2d RockSliders (only for the 2drs)
"Not enough interest", They said. "Don't know tell you try" What I said.
(Build it and they will come)

I thought about taking it off the  2dr and fabbing some mounts but then
what would I use on the 2dr?
It's not a cheap bumper but a good one.
Still in the back of my mind tho. ;)
