Title: four carb conversions ?

Hello , new to this site and have a question .
I'm putting a 1.6 8 valve tracker engine in my 1986 Samurai and was wondering about carburation .
Has anyone tried putting on a bank of carbs from a motorcycle on one of these ?
Look to me to be pretty easy and cheap plus easily tuneable and should handle angles well .

Biggest problem will be relocating the waterway and the thermostat.

Yeah I did it......

     On a 1300 using the carbs from a Suzuki 1000GS, for 4X4 I would not recommend it.
These carbs are very high airflow and from my experience don't really start to produce power till over 4000rpm. For what I was doing I was able to make them almost work.

Problems
- Building the intake, because both the thermostat housing and coolant log are built into the   
  manifold it makes it a real hard one to get right. Took about 5 tries to get one I was finally
  happy with.
- While they are quite adjustable and if you pick the right carbs you can start fairly close there
  are other problems. Choke hook up, throttle linkage, fuel pressure regulator (most M/C carbs
  are gravity feed) and of course where do you run the lines from the fuel overflow vents. You
  must also deal with the whole airfilter thing.
- After dealing with all this you will probly discovered what I did........the darn things don't
  start worth crap when it's cold........after all the work to make them fit and get them tuned
  and performing I ended up scrapping the set up the cold start was so bad.

     I understand a number of guys are running them on Swifts in warmer climates and they have got them working well, but they really perform best at high rpm (4000+) so don't seem the suit the 4X4 game.

     I ended up building another set up using twin Stromberg carbs and even though it was alot of work to get it right they seem to have been worth the effort.
