Title: Best way to waterproof a Samurai axle?

I was wondering if anyone has figured out a way to waterproof samuai axles. I went out to play in the mud yesterday and crossed a couple of creeks and on the way home (about ten miles) I heard the wheelbearings which are only about 6 months old start roaring. There is no play in the wheels, I have already checked that.

What brand were they? did they come with a spacer or was the spacer built in?
