I have a 1992 sidekick 16vavle all stock, nice truck once i work all the bugs out, i am relativly new to offroading so i need your opinions. should i keep the zoox and try to wheel it or should i trade it off for a full sized dodge?
Money is tight so upgrades are not happening to either rig anytime soon. So far the only offrading i do is maybe some mud and old logging raods but i want to get more radical as i get more exp.
Thanks and please be brutally honest.

if money is tight think about the gas milage and if you need to tow anything large,I have a four door with out the seats i can put alot of fire wood in it so i know they will hold some wieght!

"Off topic"
Are you sure your 92 is a 16 valve? Cuz I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that the 16 valves were first offered in 94.
"On Topic"
I would stick with the zook bud.
- They are cheap on gas
- Easy to repair
- Dependable as hell
You will be suprised where you can take one of these things, even stock. Just throw some more agressive tires on, and she should be able to pull you through a good amount of sticky...err muddy situations. ;D
-
16 valve motors were first introduced in 1991 or 1992...or, at least in Canada they were.
-
Oh yeah, stick witht the Suzuki, the fuel efficiency alone is well worth it.
-
Definitely stick with the Zuk, the Dodge will cost you $50 to fill up, the Zuk, well, mine costs around $20 for PREMIUM!!!! Besides, the smaller size will get you places that a full size never will......However, if you're going to be planning to tow a 5th wheel house trailer, well ;D. You know.... I'm extremely happy with my 2000. In fact, I'm kinda sick you can't get them with a four anymore. Oh well, these are good for at least 200,000 miles, that should last me a while ::)
-
Mileage is why i bought my Zuk (22mpg with 32 swampers), I used to have a 3/4 ton Dodge that I am now selling because I couldnt afford to drive while at school. I agree with the more aggressive tires and maybe a K&N filter to get a smige more power and mileage. Exaust system also help in both, but was a little spendier. It more come down to what you feel is more a nessicity.

I recommend keeping the Zuk. It will by far outlast any Dodge p/u hands down. With the recent growth of TrakKick aftermarket parts/kits growing exponentially, it is a good time to own one. Don't miss out.
-
Stick with the zuk. You'll not only appreciate fuel milage but also when your heading down a trail with some buddys and suddenly the full sizer can't fit or get through an obstacle, you'll be glad you picked the light weight smaller 4x4.
-
keep the zook, you can beat on them forever and only break front axles. i know just did my frist this summer. and i'm running 34in swampers. what i like about my zook is that it only to change the hole front end. lata stu
-
Keep The Zook, a rear locker and some
235 mud tires, say see ya to the big boys.
-
1992 4dr were the first year for the 16vavle however in 92 it was only in the 4dr. i think the reason i am thinking about it is there is a mudd hole real close to my house i have been playing in in a full sized ford, and i think the mud hole is too deep for the zook since the mud almost stalled the ford and i really enjoyed that mud hole, if i took the zook thru that stuff i will bet it would suck mud and water into the engine. I know a snorkel is an option but i do not like the way thay look.
-
also can't afford a lift yet. but if i could lift it real cheap maybe i could run a set of 235's
-
Take a look at this.

You will be surprised where you can take one of these things.
In the end though it's your decision bud. Just dont underestimate the versatility of the Zook
-
Trade a Zuki for a Dodge? :o
You'll regret it and so will your wallet.

You want a real cheap lift? I'll sell you a set of spring spacers which will give you 2" of lift for $50 (CDN). I'm not using them becuase I am going to install a Calmini suspension lift in the Spring.

well i just took it into the hills and ran into 21/2 feet of snow, boy i will tell you this thing went well in the snow i think i will keep her, and name her Zookin It!!
-
I run 33 inch tires with a 4 inch body lift. I walk all over the jeep guys. I wouldn't do it to this extreeme next time, but a 3 inch block and nice 31's will get you around a lot better then any dodge truck. your rig weighs 2500 lbs, the dodge at 5500 lbs. Who will sink first? Oh if you want to see my rig, cost me about $50 for 4 inch square tube, 1/4 thick to lift it, you can click on the picture to enlarge it. It's about half way down the page

check this out, as soon as i decided to keep this little rig i get a call from my brother. Aparently his full size ford broke down up in the snow right where i was earlier. Anyway to make a ling story short me and a friend of my brother both head up in our rigs to "rescue" him.Well i lead the way and my rig does well just like it did earlier today just me and my puny 205/15 A/T's. My brothers friend in his cherokee and 235 studded snow tires brings up the rear. And Yes i had to rescue them both.
I guess the Car gods are trying to tell me something eh?
-
LOL Yep, I pulled a full size P/U out of a wash once, they were impressed ;D

You won't regret it 8)
