Title: Decking engine block 1.6 geo tracker

I'm having the block decked. 1997 1.6L geo tracker.   What is the maximum amount that can be taken off?  The block I bought has one spot that feels deep.  The guy I bought the block from said the engine was pulled because it blew a head gasket.  I'd like to clean it up but don't want to go too deep.  Thanks

I picked up  the block today.  They took off 12 thou.  Except for the one small spot that was deep it cleaned up very nice.  The spot I'm talking about is between two water courses and away from the cylinder with clean metal all around it so the gasket should seal it.
