Title: roof rack material
Post by: beagle..t on October 28, 2015, 06:37:20 PM
Well time to start thinking of something new to do to the tracker...I have a 2002 2 dr and im thinking that when I go hunting that I might need more space in the back (another person in back) which leaves me to believe that if I were to get 2 deer the guy (not me) will be spooning with the deer in the back till I get home, so im thinking that a roof rack would do. My only problem is that I need it to be light and hold some weight so what would be best for weight  steel or aluminum, steel I can weld, aluminum I can get my buddy to weld. Because its a soft top I would like to still be able to use a removable roof rack might be cool. Im thinking like the jeep style attach to back and front windshield pillars. What would be best material to use?

I used 1" square tubing the thick walled stuff and heavy rivets to attach to body. built with gusset plate construction using rivets.

Yes just at the rear of the Targa bar in three spots so the top can still fold back. That was why I did not attach at the front windshield post's, top would not be able to swing open. If I go to hardtop I will probably extend it forward
