hey everybody
i am thinking about putting as weber carb on my 87 samurai. my question is will it pass emissions(tenessee). if not is there any other carb that will. i have a feeling it wont and i am confused on why.

I just bought a weber for my Samurai and in the warnings it says "not street legal, and for offroad use only." I'm sure it adds more fuel to the engine, increasing HCs (hydrocarbons) and will not pass emissions. It does say that it doesn't effect fuel mileage...not sure if it has effected mine yet!

It just depends on the emission standards of each state...
I have a Weber and, because of Missouri standards (or at least the Kansas City version of Missouri standards) it passes just fine. They do not do an emission tests here.
Bottom line - It's a crap-shoot.
...Unless someone from Tennessee with a Webered road-lisenced Samurai can tell us...

There is no state inspection of any kind in Tennessee. Some of the big city's like Nashville have checks but smart rednecks don't live in them places :)

The weber carb is one of the most problematic carbs on the market for off road use.
Spend your money on aMy sidee or a Yota conversion. You will be much better off....Boxcar...

In texas my 86 Samurai was emmissions exempt. Check your regulations. The Weber cleaned up the engine tremendously and runs great. Be sure to level the adapter on a piece of glass. I didn't and am tracking down small gasket leaks. Also a presure regulator is a must.

I also tend to agree with both Boxcar and bbutler455.
The biggest problem I have with my DGAV is leaks at the base along with dirt buildup causing linkage bindup - ie WOT sticking situations.
I have heard great things about the MYSide - mostly having to do with excellent off-camber operation and improved mileage compared to the Weber. It is something to investigate....

The other bad thing about all the webers now is that they are MADE IN CHINA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P O S.
