Title: Anyone out there with experience modifying a sidekick 1.6 to cv carb

I have the mods done as far as mounting the carb and installing a Samurai non-ecu distro.  I'd like some info on modifying the stock sidekick fuel pump.  I have an after market electric fuel pump but I need to hook up the inlet side to the gas tank.  Is it possible to modify the stock fuel pump unit so I can draw fuel from the tank?  Also on the Samurai distro.  it has two wires coming out of it  is one a ground and the other hooked up to the negative side of the coil?  Any help is greatly appreciated.

The small ground wire on my sammy goes to the firewall. What carb are you running?
